Normally I endeavour to portray my thoughts in rhyming verse; which to me equates with the spectre of decoration to the oftimes bizarre. In the matter of the title of this blog though such
style would be outrageously inappropriate.
My thoughts compel me to express first; my sense of horror and outrage at the event where the
lives of five young men where taken by a rogue Afghan recruit. Then developing this theme the
loss of over two hundred of our brave lads with many more maimed for life.
The situation in Afghanistan unfortunately seems to directly equate with that of Iraq, A million
lives were lost in order to get Saddam Hussein. Left behind Shiites & Moslems murdering each
other in what we are led to believe is a new fledgeling democracy.
Similarly in Afghanistan the war started again over one man. The architect of nine eleven Bin Laden. He was actively training terrorists and insurgents to infiltrate society and create mayhem
around the world in Afghanistan; under the protection of the Taliban. And so to avenge three thousand dead in the twin towers, and the refusal of the Taliban to hand over Bin Laden America and England went to war.
They have encountered fierce resistance in an impossible terrain, against an enemy no longer
being identifiable who has the ability to infiltrate into their very midst.
Where the west won the war in Iraq in Afghanistan it will not happen. It is not possible to democratize a society that has a history of tribal warfare and warlords, and where corruption
is the currency with which to exist.
Two hundred of our courageous lads and unfortunately some girls have left behind bereaved
families who will never surely forgive in particular Tony Blair and George Bush in the first
instance; and Gordon Brown for supporting and perpetuating this folly. There has been no change in administration and they stand condemned. In the case of Barak Obama he was elected
into the midst of this mess and the world waits on him and his advisors to create a solution.
Until such time our government will continue with it's policy of subservience and repeatedly
send their condolences to familys without bothering to be present at the arrival of those killed when their remains arrive back in the UK.
I am filled with rage at all this and hence the title ' FUTILITY.'
